Wisconsin International Student Association (WISA) was established during Summer 2003. The main mission of the organization is to represent international students, create a network between international students, international student organizations within the UW-Madison campus and other organizations that are interested in international culture and international issues. WISA is an organization that contains both a social aspect and a political aspect. WISA aims to sponsor, promote, and coordinate events to encourage communication and understanding between cultures. We will also take a stand on international students' issues and work with other organizations in order to make sure that international students' voices are heard.

Outreach is one of the main goals. In order to build a strong network and support, we are aiming to outreach into other organizations, including the student government and to help out with issues that pertain to the group's interests. Students' issues are our issues and we take a stand as appropriate. Moreover, we aim to build a strong relationship with the International Student Services (ISS) and Wisconsin Union Directorate (WUD) in order to provide the best services to our fellow international students as well as our internationally-minded members. Our long-term goal is to have a nationwide network among campuses around the US. This will enable us to be able to work with international students on other campuses and to help each other to resolve problems that are related to international students.

WISA is open to anyone who is interested. There is no restriction to just international students or students in general. Parents, staff/faculty members, and members of the Madison community are also welcome.
