I have a volunteer opportunity that I think would be perfect for WISA. Every year, UW-Madison's Language Institute runs World Languages Day, an outreach program for high school students in Wisconsin. World Languages Day (WLD) depends on volunteers to help presenters, direct students, help with AV, and perform many other tasks that help the day to run smoothly.

Let me know who is interested from WISA, and I will add their names & emails to my list and contact them as it gets closer to WLD (Tuesday, April 22, 2008). - Marissa
Post [2-18-08]Mentor-Mentee Program [APPLICATION]
This is a new program that WISA is starting. Many of the officers being international students ourselves, we had difficulty getting used to the new environment when we first arrive in Madison. From our own experiences, we felt the need to start a program that could reach out to new students so that they would have resources from people who has experienced similar things themselves and get help. You DO NOT have to be an international student to be a mentor or mentee. WISA will be holding events and activities including ice skating, shopping, and dinners that the participants could attend. Each pair will also report their activities that they did on their own. This would be a great chance to get to know people and learn more about Madison.
